Keystage 3

Students in Years 7 - 9 have a lesson called PSHCE. This stands for Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education. It is likely that this lesson will be taken by the Form Tutor and this should help students develop their study skills for school as well as other skills to help them through life.

PSHCE is a broad subject but it roughly falls into the following categories:

• Citizenship aspects

• Study Skills

• Health Education

• Sex & Relationships Education

• Drugs Education

• Careers Education & Guidance

• Environmental Awareness

This is also the session used to plan and practice your class assemblies and put together other class projects. Sometimes there is an outside speaker who takes the session. These tend to change each year but some of the past speakers in KS3 have included:

• Our Police Service Liaison Officer

• A District or Family Planning Nurse

• A Chiropodist

• A member of an equal opportunities group

• A Samaritan

Year 7 have a school journey which helps to develop social skills as well as learning lots of other new skills and having a lot of fun.

We hope the PSHCE course will be useful and interesting both now and for later life.
