SCHOOL SPORTS COORDINATOR FOR HATCHAM COLLEGE & ADDEY & STANHOPE

You will work for both Haberdasher’s Aske’s Hatcham College & Addey & Stanhope School
both situated in the heart of New Cross.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher of PE to act as School Sports
Coordinator at both secondary schools from November onwards. This is a dual role involving
acting as the School Sports Co-ordinator for two families of primary schools as well as
teaching PE for half a day per week at each Secondary School. This is an exciting
opportunity for an energetic and committed PE specialist to play a key role in raising
standards of achievement and attainment in schools sport forming a direct link between the
secondary school and the feeder primary schools.
The SSCo will:
(i) Co-ordinate school sport within a family of schools
(ii) Ensure effective implementation of the family plan based on analysis of
PESSCL data.
(iii) Ensure that the family development plan complements and enhances school
physical education programmes and school development plans
(iv) Ensure that all young people are included in the family’s physical education
and sport programme
(v) Project manage the SSP’s young coaches and officials programme.
Funding for the Sports Coordinator role is available on a fixed term contract until July 2011.

2. Context and Purpose of the Job
The School Sport Coordinator (SSCo) is a full time post based at two
Secondary Schools, Hatcham College & Addey & Stanhope both in
New Cross, Lewisham. The SSCo will be responsible for the coordination
and development of after school activity, out of school hours
learning, inter and intra school competition and local community links in
their own school and partner primary / special schools.
The SSCo will:
(i) Co-ordinate school sport within two family’s of schools
(ii) Ensure effective implementation of the family’s development
plan’s
(iii) Ensure that the family priorities document complements and
enhances school physical education programmes and school
development plans
(iv) Ensure that all young people are included in the family’s physical
education and sport programme
(v) To project manage SSP’s Young Coaches and Officials
Programme.
3. Accountable for:-
3.1. Key Accountabilities Specific for This Post
To co-ordinate the planning of school sport across their family of
schools, actively involving local sports organisations based on
analysis of the PESSCL survey data.
To monitor and evaluate the family’s progress in relation to the
development plan and contribute to the partnership monitoring
and evaluation process.
To develop and implement out of school hours learning
programmes across the family of schools
To increase and improve the range of intra and inter school
sporting competition
To engage and involve more young people in community sport
To identify, deploy and develop appropriate adults other than
teachers (AOTT’s) and young people as leaders, coaches and
officials.
To promote the benefits and successes of the family’s work and
ensure it has a high profile.
3.2. Financial And Asset Responsibilities
To work with the Partnership Development manager to ensure
allocated funding is used to meet targets set in Partnership and
Family development plans
To identify and attract additional sources of funding to support
development activity
3.3. Staff Responsibilities
To support Primary Link Teachers in developing school sport in
their school
To work with Partnership Development Manager to provide quality
assurance and mentoring of adults other than teachers working in
their family of schools to develop school sport
3.4. Other
To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post
4. Flexibility
In order to deliver the service effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed
and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically
referred to above. Such duties, however, will fall within the scope of the
post, at the appropriate grade.
