HACA Technology Technician

Job Title: Technology Technician
Responsible to: Assistant Principal/Director of Specialism
based at Crayford Academy
Background Information

The Technician is responsible for providing technical service to the Academy across all Key Stages,  with particular emphasis on the Design & Technology and Science curriculum areas. However, a key aspect of the role is that support will be provided across other areas of the curriculum as required.

Person Specification

The successful applicant must have:

 

  • an empathy with and an enjoyment of working with children

 

  • energy and enthusiasm

 

  • an ability to engage positively with colleagues, students and people in the wider community

 

  • good ICT skills (Microsoft Office & SIMS) and a willingness to keep up to date with developments in software and database packages

 

  • an understanding of educational initiatives

 

Job Description

To carry out preparation work for lessons under the direction of the Assistant Principal or other staff as required

 

           To clear away material and equipment after use and to ensure that specialist teaching areas are well ordered and tidy

 

           To maintain tools, equipment and apparatus as appropriate to the Technician's skills

 

           To assist in the maintenance of stock levels and help with all stock checks

 

           To assist in the development and construction of  storage solutions as appropriate

 

           To maintain high standards of safety and security in accordance with Federation policy

 

           To develop expertise in the use of the Federation MIS system, particularly with reference to the ordering of stock and materials

 

 

a)      Staff

 

           To participate in any staff meetings and/or activities relevant to the Technician's role

 

           To liaise as appropriate with staff regarding the preparation of teaching resources

 

 

  • To provide technical support to teachers and students during lessons as and when required

 

     To work on other Federation campuses as required

 

  • To provide stock-taking, PAT Testing and other services as required during school holiday working time under the direction of the Assistant Principal.

Job Title: LRC Assistant

Background Information

Learning Resources Assistant (Library) 30 hours   per week, 40 weeks p.a. plus 4 weeks’ paid holiday

Background Information

Haberdashers’ Aske’s Knights Academy opened in September 2005 and moved into the new state-of the art building at Easter 2007.

The LRC is heavily used and well resourced, it is fully computerised and is open daily 8am – 4.30pm and staffed by an LRC Manager and a Learning Resources Assistant. 

The Learning Resources Assistant will work closely with the other parts of the Learning Resources Department (Reprographics, and IT/AV Support) to promote learning and raise levels of attainment.

The Learning Resources Assistant role is a key position in helping the LRC Managers as part of the Learning Resources Department to maintain an efficient LRC service.  A flexible approach to work is essential as there will be a requirement to work at other schools in the Federation (Hatcham & Crayford).

  • NVQ 3 in relevant subject or equivalent
  • GCSE or equivalent numeracy and literacy
  • Professional qualification in librarianship, information management or information science, e.g. ECDL or other Library qualification

Relevant experience

  • Experience of relating well to children and adults

  • To deal with all aspects of the computerised loan system for which training will be provided.
  • To assist students and staff (after training) in the use of LRC-based resources (Books, computers, camera’s, etc).
  • To maintain a service to users at all times.
  • To undertake routine LRC tasks - shelving and book processing - necessary for the efficient running of the LRC
  • To supervise the behaviour of all students using the LRC
  • A willingness to work on another site within the Federation would be an asset
  • To undertake any duties as may reasonably be required by the Head of Learning Resources and/or LRC Manager.
