HABERDASHERS' ASKE'S KNIGHTS ACADEMY

OPEN DAY 2.10.08

Federation Registrar's talk

I am the Registrar for the Federation and I imagine that most of you will be speaking to my dept at sometime throughout this process.

After hearing my colleagues talk about the kind of education that is offered at Knights Academy I imagine that most of you will want to apply for a place for your child.

The Academy has now changed its admission criteria.  Random allocation is no longer part of the distance criterion.

I understand that this is a very stressful time for parents and this is why I would like to make you aware of a few important points:-

If you would like to apply for a place at the Academy for your child, I urge you to read the prospectus thoroughly especially the Admission Procedure section before completing the Additional information form that can be found at the back of the prospectus.

The completed Additional information form must then be sent to the Academy by Friday, 24 October 2008.

The Academy is part of the Pan London Co-ordinated admissions scheme and therefore, you must name HAKA on your child’s Common Application form.  You should have already received this form from your child’s primary school.  If you haven’t received a form please contact your resident Local Authority.

We are unable to consider applications where the Academy has not been named on the Common Application Form.

If you are applying for both schools in the Haberdashers’ Federation (Knights Academy & Hatcham College) you will need to complete an additional information form for each school and name both schools on the Common Application form.

However, your child will only be invited to take one Non Verbal Reasoning test and the result will stand for both schools.

If you have any further admission questions that are not answered in the prospectus, my admissions team are available in downstairs in the Dining Hall

Our Head of Inclusion Ms O’Connell and her team are available to answer any Special Educational needs questions that you may have.  Please ask your tour guide to direct you.

Thank you for coming.
