Enrichment activities are an integral part of the Academy ethos.

These activities enable staff and students to interact on a less formal basis and give both breadth and the opportunity for cross curricular work. They are, therefore, strongly encouraged for all students. To this end there is an accredited enrichment programme.

Attendance at an enrichment activity will be rewarded by Vivo points with a pyramid system of awards and this will go towards an end of term awards assembly and ultimately a presentation evening at the end of the school year. Students in years 7 – 13 will be expected to gain added rewards every Askean term.

Enrichment activities usually on offer will include a variety of clubs, societies, academic support sessions and special interest groups. The majority of activities take place on site, but some may involve the use of off-site facilities. Activities may take place at lunchtimes, after school or at weekends. There are also residential opportunities, Duke of Edinburgh Award, a ski trip and an inter-house competitions programme. The Junior Athlete Education programme is run by the Academy to support elite athletes across all sporting fields. To gain access to this programme a written application will need to be made to the school.
