PE and Sports Premium Funding

What is the Sports Premium

Funding from the goverment of £8,000 per primary school plus £5 extra per pupil.

At Knights Temple Grove that accounts for £9725 this year.

It is used to improve the provision of PE and sport, with the schools having the freedom to spend it.

How have we spent the funding?

  • Hiring specialist PE teachers and qualified coaches to work alongside primary teachers when teaching PE
  • New and additional 'Change4Life' sports clubs
  • Paying for professional development opportunities in PE and sport
  • Buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE and Sport' sports clubs
  • Paying for professional development opportunities in PE and sport
  • Providing places for pupils on after school sport clubs
  • Paying for a staff PE kit so that there is now a unified approach
  • Paying for gymnastics lessons through BEAM Gymnastics for children in key stage 2, and for gymnastics lessons as an enrichment for children in key stage 1.

The Impact of Sports Funding 2017-2018

As a consequence of the Sports Funding:

  • we were able to deliver range of high quality PE lessons, as well as provide after school clubs for reception through to Year 6;
  • children benefitted from having high quality gymnastics sessions, delivered by a professional coach each week in their PE lesson and as an enrichment club;
  • staff members have also benefitted from the gymnastics training as they are active observers in these lessons and are able to consolidate the skills the children are taught in gymnastics during their PE lessons;
  • students benefitted from professional FA Football coaching from an external professional – this led to the creation of a Key stage 2 football team who played their first games against opposing schools;
  • staff benefitted from training in teaching Yoga to children and this enabled yoga to be taught for the first time at KTG;
  • we ran a larger and highly successful school sports day in the summer term.

Intentions for the comming year (2018-2019)

In this academic year we are planning to continue with the successful areas from the previous year and develop certain aspects even further. Therefore the sports premium fund will be spent on the following areas:

  • purchase a new curriculum to enhance teacher led PE lessons;
  • further staff raining including on teaching Zumba and gymnastics to children;
  • develop the boys football team and establish Girls only football sessions provided by Fulham football to encourage wider participation;
  • run a Fun Run to promote healthy lifestyles;
  • achieve the Active Mark for PE.
