As a College we are proud to have a multi award winning Career Service and Career Guidance Practitioner, it is an amazing achievement for both ourselves and our team to be recognised at both national and internal levels, and truly shows the power of outstanding Career Guidance.
Mr Shenbanjo Wins The Career Champion Award – January 2018
After an amazing final with 9,000 votes cast, Theophilus Shenbanjo of Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College in South London was named the winner of the Careers Champion Award. Theophilus has been Head of Careers Education, WRL and Enterprise at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham College for almost 8 years. A hands on practitioner, he oversees and delivers personalised CEIAG to the 1000+ students and alumni, including the management of a real-time destination database. A natural networker, Theophilus has provided the school with an enviable gateway to local business and industry which has raised aspirations and ensured positive outcomes for thousands of students.
Nominator Katherine Lanham said: "His positivity and can-do attitude is an inspiration to all who meet him. He is a builder of bridges and a destroyer of barriers. He speaks to the children as though they were adults and they have a deep respect for him."
On accepting the award, Theophilus said ‘Thanks again to everyone who both nominated and voted for me in the Careers Champion Award, thank you to my colleagues, the students and parents at HAHC and the many others for your support, thank you to the 4000+ voters both national and worldwide for voting! Working Adviser is an online platform which allows careers professionals and associates to communicate, interact and discuss issues and areas associated with the CEIAG. The site is run by qualified and experienced careers professionals who have both the industry and its support network at heart and as a way of recognising excellent career guidance practice in education, they have created the Careers Champion Award, the award is sponsored by Prospects, Cascaid and Morrisby.
Mr Shenbanjo Wins The National Career Guidance Award – March 2016
Hatcham’s Career Guidance Practitioner, Mr Shenbanjo, attended the Pure Potential National Education Awards at EY in Canary Wharf after being shortlisted for an award. The awards are presented annually to recognise, honour and reward individuals for outstanding achievement in education and their contribution to the state education sector. They recognise and celebrate the achievements of state educated students, teachers and staff around the UK, showcasing all the wonderful things they do to help others and the community around them. The awards categories reflect the wealth and diversity within British education. These awards are approved by Pure Potential, EY and the ICAEW ratified by the Board of Directors and Trustees.
We are pleased to announce that Mr Shenbanjo was awarded the National Career Guidance Award by Maggie Stilwell, Managing Partner for Talent at EY, Sharon Spice, Director of Global Student Recruitment and Hazel Garvey, Director of Business Development at the ICAEW.
